Designing my Wix website was somewhat
difficult. I was pretty much terrified to complete the assignment when it was
first assigned a couple months back. I did not start working on my Wix
website right away because I knew I was going to get bored really fast. After
brainstorming for topics I did not know what I was going to create my website
on. When I finally decided on the topic of bullying, I was pretty much excited
and ready to start creating. I pick the topic bullying because my future
career is to be a 1st grade teacher and in education, bullying is at its peak
and become a major issue nation wide. I played with the Wix templates for a
while because there was so many templates to choose from.
After a couple of days into designing my own website and the
professor begin to show pervious website design my students. I became scared
and nervous and decided to change my entire website. When I realize that trying
to creating a website from scratch would be by far much more difficult than I
decided for the assignment to be, I just keep the original template that was
giving on the Wix website. The website was pre-design and worked perfectly.
After I begin to do my research and gather information for topic. I realize
that many of students that were speaking out for the students who have been
victims to bully were expressing their selves with releasing colorful balloons
that representing bullying. With the colorful balloons is showed through my
website design it is very colorful and gives you the feeling of the balloons on
the website.
When I started to do my website I did not play with the Wix
website, I did not test the features that were available before I started my
very own designs. So when I finally begin to create my website, I was unsure
how to do a lot. The most difficult was trying to add the text from my paper,
especially because I have a MAC and it just the not normal right click copy and
past. Once I played with it a couple of times, I was able to add text without
any problem. I was afraid of adding to
much text on the page because I did not want to overbear my audience with too
much text. The colors and outline of the template was already designed so I did
not have to decide on the color contrast. If I can make a decision about
changing something about the template, it would be one thing about the color of
the text. I would just change it to be darker and bold, but there was no option
given for me to make that change.
I created my own navigation bar as to how I wanted to
breakdown my website. I added music and different animations to my website just
to make my website a little lively. I did not add or change too much of the original
design because the template was busy and the same time it was simple. After, I
finished my website I am pleased that it is not geared to just one age group it
is very age friendly and informative.
Overall, I enjoyed creating my website. When I showed my
fellow classmates my draft I was surprise to see how much everyone liked it and
I appreciate the advice they gave me to help make it better. It actually gave
me confidence and was excited to complete my website and see the finish
product. I never realize how much work is put into creating a website, it never
that important to me and now I actually appreciate technology and will
definitely pay attention to web more often.
As the semester comes to an end, I am kind of sad because I enjoy
boarding my knowledge to more information and of information that I am not use
to learning.
